When refueling inkjet printer cartridges, sometimes it is necessary to reset their values, otherwise the head with the cartridge will not move from its place during printing. To reset the values of the chip inside the cartridge, special devices are used - programmers.

It is necessary

  • - printer cartridge;
  • - programmer.

Instructions

Step 1

If this is your first time facing such a problem, you need to understand what you will be doing. Some cartridges have chips inside that calculate the amount of ink or sheets that is consumed during printing. Roughly speaking, the chip acts as a timer; upon the expiration of the required value on its dial, the printing is automatically blocked.

Step 2

As a rule, the chips of the cartridges that came with the printer are quite difficult to zero. You need to purchase a cartridge similar to the original one, for which it will be possible to reset the values. Programmers are used to perform this operation. In appearance, this device has a small size, about a couple of matchboxes or a little more (depending on the specific model). On one side there are contacts, and on the other - indicators, sometimes there are still some buttons.

Step 3

For example, for cartridges from Epson printers, the procedure will be as follows. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridge by pressing the special button, which should light up red, because the paint has come to an end.

Step 4

Hold the cartridge (black or color) in one hand, with the programmer in the other. Align the terminals of the zeroing device with the contacts of the cartridge, then press the corresponding button. Disconnect both devices after the warning light comes on.

Step 5

Repeat the same operation for the rest of the cartridges, then reinsert them into the print carriage tray. Close the cover and press the low ink button again.

Step 6

Repeat the operation to print the open document, check the ink level through the printer driver software. If the ink remains in the same position as before the flushing operation, repeat the process again.
