Reception of radio signals at a distance from the transmitter is not always satisfactory. It can be improved by using high-quality antennas and special amplifiers.

Instructions

Step 1

Remember the rule: amplifiers can always be used in conjunction with the receiving paths, but almost never in conjunction with the transmitting paths, since this can cause the power of the emitted signal to go beyond the permissible limits. The exception is amateur transmitters of the highest categories, where significant powers are allowed, but amplifiers with an increased level of out-of-band radiation cannot be used there either. Remember also that the amplifier located in front of the receive path must not be put into oscillation mode, otherwise it will start to radiate.

Step 2

The adage that the best amplifier is a good antenna has a real basis. Connect an external antenna (even without any amplifier) instead of a room antenna to the receiver, TV, and you will see for yourself.

Step 3

In the case of transmission paths, the output power of which is limited by regulatory documents (GSM, WiFi, C-Bi, PMR, etc.), the use of an external antenna is the only way out, since the use of an amplifier is unacceptable. Of course, the device must have a connector for connecting such an antenna, and it itself must be designed for the range in which it operates.

Step 4

A directional antenna can both degrade and improve reception - it all depends on its correct use. Direct it as accurately as possible - only then will it fully manifest its properties.

Step 5

If the device does not have a jack for an external antenna, in some cases you can solve the problem of poor reception by moving it. Place the receiver closer to a window, balcony, 3G or WiMax modem, move it on the USB cable to a point where reception is better, or place it in focus of a parabolic reflector aimed at the base station. An indoor GLONASS or GPS receiver, even if its walls are not reinforced concrete, will only work next to a window or balcony.
