Every music lover is familiar with the situation when the level of high frequencies in the sound of an audio system is clearly overestimated. There are several ways to correct this deficiency and make the sound more pleasant to the ear.

Step 1
Locate the tone control on your audio device. If there is only one such control, move it to the position corresponding to the decrease in the high frequency level. If there are two controls, increase the bass level with one of them, and lower the treble level with the other.
Step 2
Some audio devices are equipped with so-called equalizers. In fact, these are also tone controls, but multi-band. Use the equalizer to set the amplitude-frequency characteristic of the amplifier path so that the high-frequency level is underestimated. Try not to reduce the level of low frequencies, otherwise speech intelligibility will suffer.
Step 3
Sometimes you can reduce the level of high frequencies in the sound by replacing the speakers. Select speakers so that they are rated for at least the output power of the amplifier and that their impedance is equal to or greater than that of the amplifier. New loudspeakers must be larger than the old ones.
Step 4
If there are no tone controls and it is impossible to replace the speakers, use frequency equalization circuits. The first of them is a conventional choke, connected in series to the break of the conductor, through which the signal comes from the preliminary stages to the volume control. Select its inductance experimentally. The second circuit consists of a resistor connected in the same way as the choke in the first case. The output of this resistor, facing the input of the regulator, connect to the common wire through a capacitor. Also select the capacity of the latter experimentally.
Step 5
Finally, the simplest way to reduce the high frequencies in the sound of an audio system is as follows. Cover the speaker grill with a pillow. Then unscrew the speaker along with the pillow against the wall. The sound coming from its back will be surprisingly high quality.
