If you already have an ADSL modem or a router connected through a splitter, leave it in place, and connect the analog modem to the output intended for telephones. If the computer does not have a COM port, and the modem is designed to be connected through it, use a USB-COM adapter. In this case, you will have to connect the power supply to the device anyway.

Step 3

Install a fax program on your computer, for example, for DOS - Ecofax, for Linux - fax (command line utility), for windows - Fax and Scan. In the program settings, select the COM or USB port to which the modem is connected (this is done in different ways, depending on the program).

Step 4

If the program saves the reception results not in a generally accepted, but in a special format, install the program to view files in this format (in Linux - Kfax, QFaxReader).

Step 5

After making all the necessary connections and settings, launch the program, turn on the receive mode in it and ask someone who has a fax machine or fax modem to send you an image. Make sure it was accepted successfully.
