With the advent of computers, conventional fax machines have become a thing of the past - now you don't have to use a separate device to send a fax. To send a fax, it is enough to use the software of your computer, as well as a connected fax modem, which allows you to communicate with a telephone line through a computer and send regular faxes. You can install both an external fax modem and an internal one.
Instructions
Step 1
After installing a fax modem and connecting it to an analog telephone line, set it up. Open Start and select Windows Fax and Scan under Programs.
Step 2
Click the Fax tab and select Create Fax. The fax setup wizard will start, where you should click "Connect to a fax modem".
Step 3
Click "Next" - the setup wizard will perform all the necessary operations by itself. Follow its instructions to finish setting up your modem.
Step 4
Also, you can configure not only a single fax modem on your computer, but also a fax server, if we are talking about a corporate computer network, where a separate computer with several fax modems is required.
Step 5
To connect to a fax server that already has configured equipment for sending faxes, find out the name of this computer on your network and its network address.
Step 6
Click Start and select Programs, then open Windows Fax and Scan. Select the "Fax" section and open the "Tools" menu.
Step 7
Then open the "Fax Accounts" section and click "Add" to add a new account, which will later allow you to use the fax server to send faxes from your computer without installing additional equipment.
Step 8
The Fax Setup Wizard will open - indicate that you want to connect to a fax server on the network. Follow the instructions in the setup wizard.
