Nowadays, the search for the desired vessel can be carried out using Internet resources. On them you can find a specific ship by name, type, area and other characteristics. There are also special maps with marks on the location of certain ships.

Instructions
Step 1
Open your browser and go to https://www.marinetraffic.com to search for a vessel by name. Go to the "Ships" tab, this section contains a list of all existing ships in the world with the main characteristics: name, type, speed, course, direction (if the ship is currently at sea), current port, area, position received (i.e. (i.e. at what time the vessel data was received). To search for a ship by a specific criterion, if you do not know its name, sort by a specific parameter. To do this, simply click on the column name.
Step 2
Search for a vessel by name. To do this, in the left part of the window, enter the name of the vessel in the field, select its type from the list (fishing, passenger, tanker, tug, etc.). Then click on the "Search" button. If you only know the approximate point of departure / arrival of the ship, use the "Ports" tab.
Step 3
Select the desired port from the alphabetical list, then select the list of ships that correspond to it: now ships in the port to find out what ships are in it at the moment; departure or arrival.
Step 4
Search for the vessel on the map if you know the approximate location. To do this, go to the "Map" tab. On the left side of the window, select the display function: check the box next to Show vessel names. Next, select the area of interest on the map, on the left side of the screen, check the boxes next to the corresponding types of ships and displayed items. The map will show ships with the direction of their movement. To save the found result, press the Print Screen button, paste the image from the clipboard in any graphics editor.
Step 5
Use the online service https://aprs.fi/info/ to search for a specific vessel by name. You can only enter the beginning of a name if in doubt about its correctness. Replace unknown characters with an asterisk. For example, He *. Then click "Search".
