Varieties of printers

There are two main types of printers on the market today: inkjet and laser, which are fundamentally different from each other. An inkjet printer is based on cartridges with liquid ink, which can be either black or color. The laser printer cartridge is filled with a special powder, which is applied to the paper due to the point effect of electrons on those areas of the sheet to which the powder with magnetic properties should be applied. In addition to printers, there are multifunctional devices (MFPs) on the market. This device combines several devices at once: a printer, a scanner and a copier. They also come in both inkjet and laser.

Although the cost of inkjet cartridges is lower than that of laser cartridges, the resource of the latter is several times higher, which indicates the economic feasibility of purchasing a laser printer.

Selection principles

How much print the device has to do and how much you are willing to spend on the purchase of consumables - these are the fundamental principles of choosing printers for home use. Inkjet models and MFPs are good options for the home. However, you need to be careful here, as in some inkjet printers, cartridges can shrink, which leads to clogging of the printer's exit nozzles. Such a breakdown can hit the user's pocket hard, therefore, to prevent drying out, it is necessary to print a couple of sheets at least once a week. Another disadvantage of inkjet printers and MFPs is the small volume of the cartridge. On average, it is enough for 300-600 pages, which is quite a bit.

Laser printers are ideal for everyday, intensive use, as the volume of the cartridge in such devices is enough for several thousand pages. In addition, the powder inside the cartridges does not shrink. Keep in mind that in addition to refueling, laser cartridges need to be repaired periodically. So, every 2-3 refueling you will have to change the photoreceptor. In addition, they are more expensive than inkjet devices. That is why, if the requirements for the printer are not high, you can fearlessly choose an inkjet model.

Laser printer cartridges are easy to refill, but you shouldn't do it yourself. It is better to use the services of professionals, as, in case of failure, the printer's warranty will disappear.

Presented assortment

Distinguished leaders in the quality of printers and MFPs are Xerox and Hewlett Packard. This is due to the fact that the cartridges in them are protected from drying out. In addition, the devices of these manufacturers often have a record three-year warranty, which leaves no doubt about the correct purchase of printers of this production. In terms of quality, giants such as Samsung, Canon and Brother are stepping on their heels. Brother printers are the cheapest brands listed, but they are only warranted for one year, while Samsung and Canon have a two-year warranty. At the same time, Hewlett Packard often runs a promotion, according to the terms of which any product is covered by a three-year warranty.

In addition, HP, Canon, Xerox, Samsung cartridges can be successfully disassembled and refilled with ink by yourself, which will significantly save your budget. The original cartridge is not cheap. The purchase of ink will cost several times less. The lineup of printers is updated quite quickly, while the printing speed increases, the mechanism of the device changes, so when buying, do not hesitate to ask the store's consultants questions about the resource and the presence of a chip in the cartridge. A competent salesperson will help you choose exactly the printer that suits you best.
