Subscriber numbers of various Russian mobile operators can be identified by three digits in the mobile phone number. The first digit 8 (+7) is the international prefix denoting the country - Russia, and the next three belong to the provider or operator.

Step 1
Today the largest mobile operators in Russia are the providers Megafon, Mobile Telesystems (MTS), Beeline and Tele 2.
Look at the subscriber's number and pay attention to the second, third and fourth digits of the number. Megafon subscribers have numbers that start with the following codes: +7 495 (identical to 925), 812 (identical to 921), 920, 921, 922, 923, 924, 925, 926, 927, 928, 929, 930, 931, 932, 933, 937, 938.
MTS numbers begin with numbers: +7 916, 985 (direct) and many others, depending on the region in which the SIM card was purchased.
Mobile numbers "Beeline" have a digital code +7 903, 960, 963, 964 and many others.
Tele 2 numbers start with the combinations +7 902, 904, 908, 950, 951 and others.
Step 2
In order not to be mistaken in all the variety of mobile numbers and mobile operators, it is most likely to find out the mobile operator by the subscriber's phone number through a special service containing a database with detailed information about mobile codes and prefixes.

Open a new tab in your browser and go to this site. You will see a box titled "Enter your mobile phone number." Enter in this column the mobile number that interests you, in an eleven-digit format: 8XXXZZZZZZZ, where XXX is the operator's code, ZZZZZZZ is the mobile number. After entering the full number, click the "Define operator" button.
Step 3
The page will reload and the screen will display information about the country and region of the operator, as well as the name of the mobile operator itself. Here you can also see the address of the official website of the company and the host society. Below you will see a map of the state and a highlighted region, which indicates where the SIM card was purchased.
