Despite the fact that the fashion for videotapes has long passed, many people still have VHS tapes, the useful life of which is very short. This means that all data will be lost at one point. To prevent this from happening, you need to rewrite the contents of the cassette to digital media.
Necessary
- - VCR and cassette;
- - TV tuner and the accompanying software required for work;
- - DVD disc or HD disc.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the equipment for operation. To do this, turn on the VCR, insert the cassette and connect it with audio-video cords to the TV tuner. Press the play key on the tape recorder to see if the signal is coming in correctly. Make a trial recording. Pay attention to audio and video synchronicity, which may suffer if incorrect settings are made. Install the software that came with the TV tuner. It will be needed in order to capture video and slightly edit the resulting file.
Step 2
Start the rewrite process. Start the source cassette. After that activate the TV-tuner and press the button for recording from VHS-source. The contents of the tape being recorded can be seen on the monitor in the tuner window. Find the tuner control panel and in the settings select the file format that should be obtained as a result of the dubbing. It should be borne in mind that modern DVD players for the most part are no longer so selective in the formats played. Therefore, by and large, the choice of the final file format is not critical.
Step 3
After all the settings are done, write down the path to save the file on your computer. Start recording. Please note that after the start of recording, the file resolution changed to the video file format selected in the settings. It should also be emphasized that there is no point in trying to tweak all the rewrite parameters yourself. Preset program values, designed for minimal user intervention, justify themselves in 90% of cases.
