There are several steps you can take to maximize the battery life of your iOS 9. The effectiveness of each step will depend on your specific applications and how you use your phone. Some tricks should be used sparingly as they will affect speed and performance. Experiment with ways to extend battery life to determine their effectiveness for your individual circumstances.

iOS mobile phone
Instructions
Step 1
Open the Settings app, then find the Battery app, which is just below Touch ID & Passcode. Open the Battery app to view detailed information about your battery.
Review the Battery Usage heading to see a list of the apps you are using. The percentage is shown to the right of each app, indicating the percentage of battery used by each app. Apps will be listed from highest to lowest, with the most dangerous battery programs listed first.
Remove or restrict the use of identified battery monsters to extend battery life.
Step 2
Disable background app refresh. Apps that consume a lot of power can be optimized for better performance by limiting background functions. This move can slow down the performance of apps like Facebook, but it will significantly increase battery life.
- Click the Settings icon to open and navigate to the General heading, which is at the top of Group 3 presented in the list. Click Update Background Application. This is the first entry in the list with the option to switch to the right. Then turn off the switch to turn off background app refresh for all apps.
- In addition, you can view the list of installed apps in this section and disable background app refresh only for certain apps that are known batteries.
Step 3
Lower the screen.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. This action can be performed from the home screen, lock screen, or using any application.
- Find the horizontal slider just below the WiFi and Bluetooth icons, then slide the setting to the left to reduce the display size as much as possible without straining your eyes. Dimmer screens have less battery power.
Step 4
Flip your phone over.
Placing your phone face down on a desk or work desk when not in use can save precious drops of battery power. The notifications will still go through, but your screen won't turn on. It won't have much of an impact, but it might help.
Step 5
Activate airplane mode.
This is especially useful when you are in poor service because it prevents your phone from constantly looking for a signal when there is none. Note that you will not be able to make or receive calls while airplane mode is active.
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center and tap the airplane icon on the left to activate airplane mode.
- You can also open the Settings app and find Airplane Mode as the first entry on the list. To enable it, slide the switch to the "On" position.
Step 6
Disable location services. The location service uses your phone's GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi to pinpoint your approximate location. This can be a vital feature for many iPhone features, but turning it off will have a huge impact on your battery life.
- Open the Settings app and go to the Privacy app, which looks like an open hand. Click Location Services at the top of the list to go to the next screen. At the top of the next screen, you will find another Location Services. Tap the power switch on the right to turn off location services for all apps and features.
- An alternative method. On the same screen, you can turn off location services only for certain apps. To the right of each application in the list below, you will see gray text that reads "While Using" or "Never." Click any application that reads "While Using" and set it to "Never". Do this for non-mission critical applications only while the core power of location services is turned on.
Step 7
Activate low power mode. You will be automatically prompted to enable this feature if your phone has 20% battery left; however, it can be manually configured to remain active at all times. This should be the last feature meant for temporary use as it will drastically reduce your phone's performance.
- Open "Settings" and open the "Battery" app. Now turn on low power mode by touching the toggle switch to the right.
