Beginning musicians or singers sooner or later strive to immortalize their first beginnings. For this, sound recording is made at home using an ordinary computer and a cheap microphone. In order for the recording to be of better quality and loudness, it is necessary to perform a number of operations to amplify the sound of the microphone.
Instructions
Step 1
Launch the sound card control panel located on the quick launch bar near the clock. In it, you will need to check and set all the necessary settings.
Step 2
Find the volume controls in Settings that match the jack the microphone is connected to. Their names depend on the sound card and can be the following: Mic, Front Pink in, Rear pink in, etc. Make sure these controls are turned on. When the channel is off, you will see a red cross on the schematic dynamics. To turn on the device, you just need to press it.
Step 3
Set the volume controls to their maximum position. Open the "Recording" tab and check that the installed and specified sound card matches. If the information is incorrect, change it to the correct one. Then go to the Device Manager menu and check for sound drivers.
Step 4
Return to the settings menu. Go to the Microphone Gain section. For some models of sound cards this menu has been replaced by a small button located under the volume control of the recording channel. Check the box next to the corresponding item "Microphone gain".
Step 5
Replace the microphone battery if the sound is no longer satisfactory. Some microphones require a power source, which is a built-in battery. The lower their charge, the lower and weaker the recording will be in terms of volume. If you have a wired microphone, it is recommended that you check the wiring and the presence of a short circuit.
Step 6
If damage is found on the wire, it must be replaced by yourself or by contacting special technical centers. Get a mic preamp that boosts sound quality and volume and is a must-have for anyone planning to record.
