If your mobile phone is stolen or lost, it is important to block the SIM card installed in it as soon as possible. To do this, call the operator's support service. It is especially important to block if the SIM card is served on a postpaid tariff plan.
Instructions
Step 1
Regardless of the region in which the SIM card installed in a stolen or lost device was purchased, it is better to call the support service from a phone in which the card is tied to the local branch of the operator. If the phone from which you are calling is connected to the same operator as the one in which you want to block the card, call one of the following numbers: MTS - 0890, Beeline - 0611, Megafon - 0500. In your home region calls to these numbers are free.
Step 2
If you do not have a device connected to the same operator at hand, you will have to call the support service from any other device. If the card that you want to block is connected to MTS, call 8 800 250 0890 (calls are free throughout Russia), if to Beeline, call (495) 974-8888 (paid as a call to a landline phone located in Moscow), and if to Megafon - by number 8 800 333 05 00 (calls are free throughout Russia).
Step 3
In roaming, a paid (and expensive) call will turn out to be a call to any of these numbers, but you still need to make it. If the kidnappers make calls from a stolen phone in a foreign country, the costs will be even higher. Even SIM cards connected according to prepaid tariffs are served in roaming according to a postpaid credit scheme. Therefore, call the operator's support service without fail. Instead of 8 to call Russia from abroad, use the code +7.
Step 4
After calling, follow the prompts of the voice informant to enter the mode of connection with the consultant. If you are making a call from a phone that does not support touchtone dialing, just wait for a call to helpdesk. When this happens, dictate the number of the SIM card located in the stolen phone, the last name, first name and patronymic of the person to whom it is registered, as well as the passport data of this person.
Step 5
When the consultant says that the card is blocked, all further actions can be carried out slowly (if you are on a trip abroad, then after returning from it). First, visit the office of the mobile operator (not necessarily the head office - any will do). Show your passport there and ask to restore your SIM card. It will be connected to the same number, the balance will be saved on it, but the contacts and SMS messages located on it will be lost. Then go to the police station. Provide the date when the phone was stolen, its model, color, appearance features known to you (location of scratches, stickers), the number of the last installed SIM-card, and, if possible, the IMEI number. Please note that the police are only looking for phones if they are kidnapped, not lost. The search itself begins not at the time of the appeal, but at the time of the initiation of a criminal case on the fact of theft.
