When we say "video card", as a rule, we mean a separate board that is responsible in the computer for building an image. But there is another type of video adapters called embedded or integrated, and they do not exist as a separate device. These adapters are part of the motherboard and cannot be physically removed from the computer. When installing a separate video card, the built-in adapter must be disabled.

Instructions

Step 1

Go to your motherboard BIOS. To do this, immediately after turning on or restarting the computer, press the BIOS entry key. Depending on the motherboard model, these can be the F1, F2 keys, or the Delete key. Which one of them, the BIOS itself will tell. On the screen with the motherboard logo there will be a prompt, something like "Press F1 to enter Setup", which means "press F1 to enter the settings menu."

Step 2

Find the Integrated Hardware Settings menu tab. As a rule, its English title contains the word "integrated", for example, the tab may be called "integrated peripherals".

Step 3

One of the menu items in this tab is called "Onboard devices". Go to it. One of the submenu lines will look like "Onboard video", or "Onboard GPU", or "Onboard graphic" depending on the motherboard model.

Step 4

Select this line and press "Enter". In the drop-down list, select the "Disable" option. The built-in adapter is disabled. To save the changes in the BIOS, select the “Save and Exit” item in the “Exit” menu, which means “Save and Exit” in Russian.
