Step 1

For this task, you will need the Device Manager interface. Therefore, at the initial stage, you need to open this section of the computer. This is done as follows. Open the My Computer folder. If the folder is not on the desktop (this is often the case after installing the system), you can open it from the start menu. After "My Computer" is open, you should pay attention to the left side of the running window. Here you will see a series of tabs that can be hidden or expanded: Other Locations, System Tasks, Details. If the tabs are hidden, left-click on "System Tasks".

In the tab that opens, select the "View system information" section. In the future, a window will be displayed on the desktop in which you need to switch to the "Hardware" tab, and through it you need to go to the "Device Manager" section. Once in this directory, you must follow these steps to turn off the drive.

Click on the plus sign next to the DVD and CD-ROM drives parameter. A list of drives installed on your computer will open. If only one drive is installed on the PC, the list will reflect only that drive. If there are many drives, select the device that needs to be disabled and right-click on it.
