Modern computer technology makes it easy to create and configure your own wireless networks. This is very convenient if you constantly use laptops, communicators or PDAs.
Necessary
Wi-Fi router
Instructions
Step 1
Pick up a Wi-Fi router. This equipment must meet the operating parameters of the wireless adapters of those devices that you plan to include in your home wireless network. Read the instructions for laptops and PDAs. Find out what types of security they can work with.
Step 2
Connect the selected Wi-Fi router to AC power. Connect the internet connection cable to the device. For this purpose, you must use a WAN, Internet or DSL connector.
Step 3
If the Wi-Fi router supports access to its settings via a wireless channel, turn on the laptop and connect to the access point created by the wireless equipment.
Step 4
Enter the Wi-Fi IP of the router in the address bar of the web browser. Fill in the Login and Password fields with the required values. Click the Log In button to enter the hardware setup menu. Open the Internet (WAN) menu and configure the Internet connection. Be sure to make the following functions active: NAT, Firewall and DHCP. Save your internet connection settings.
Step 5
Now open the Wi-Fi menu (Wireless Config). Change the settings of the wireless access point so that other devices can connect to it. In the event that you plan to use a PDA, it is recommended to choose the security type WEP or WPA-Personal. Because with the newer and more secure types of encryption, "Palmcaps" may not work.
Step 6
Turn on your PDA. Open the settings menu of your wireless adapter. Click the Add button. Enter the characteristics of the wireless access point created by the Wi-Fi router. Be sure to enter the correct network password and select the type of security you are using. Connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot. Check if your PDA is connected to the Internet.
