The development of the Internet has transformed the world beyond recognition. People received not only free access to a variety of information, but also new opportunities for communication and leisure activities. At the same time, the quality of the Internet connection has become very important.

Many Internet users probably still remember the first modems, which had a maximum connection speed of 56 kilobits per second. At the same time, many had to pay not for the consumed traffic, but for the total connection time, which was very unprofitable.

Thanks to competition and the emergence of new technologies, the situation began to gradually improve. The speeds were constantly growing, the "time rate" is a thing of the past. In addition to wired Internet, cellular operators began to offer network access services. The GPRS communication protocol became available to users, then EDGE and, finally, 3G, which provided the connection speed up to 3.6 Mbit / sec. Then came the intermediate standard 3, 5G, or HSDPA (up to 14 Mbps). Finally, it will soon be replaced by the 4G standard, which provides information transfer at a speed of several hundred megabits per second.

The advantages of high-speed communication can hardly be overestimated - huge amounts of information become available to users, the need to wait for some time for loading "heavy" pages or a large file is a thing of the past. Convenience and time saving are the main advantages of 4G networks. In addition, this is precisely mobile communication, which means that the user will be able to use a truly high-speed Internet in any place where cellular communication operates.

With the introduction of 4G technology, Internet TV in HD quality will become available to users of mobile devices. Video conferencing and video calling will also become commonplace. With the ability to transfer huge amounts of information, 4G networks will open up many new possibilities, most of which are difficult to imagine. For example, doctors will be able to perform operations remotely using robotic operating rooms, the problem of simultaneous translation of foreign speech will disappear - modern programs can already translate it on the fly, but imperfect communication leads to a delay in the arrival of translation.

It should be noted that there are currently several technologies claiming the right to use the 4G designation. These are LTE, TD-LTE, Mobile WiMAX, UMB and HSPA +. Most of the world's mobile operators are leaning towards using LTE technology, and it is this technology that will develop in Russia. At the moment, the speed of the first 4G networks based on this technology is about 20 Mbit / s, but in the future the speed will increase to 300 Mbit / s.
