A home, or landline, phone can operate in one of two dialing modes: pulse and tone. The default is pulse mode. But sometimes you need to transfer the device to tone dialing, for example, to select options using keystrokes, which are listed for you by the support service or some other automated system.

Instructions
Step 1
Determine which mode you currently have. If you hear clicks when dialing a number in the handset, then the mode is pulse. If tonal sounds have different heights, this is the tonal mode.
Step 2
Most telephones can be switched to tone mode by pressing the * (asterisk) key.
Step 3
PABX telephones manufactured by Panasonic are switched to tone mode by first pressing the asterisk (*) and then the hash (#).
Step 4
The telephones of domestic production "Rus 25" and "Rus 26" are switched to tone mode if you press the "Mode" buttons, then the number 3 and the number 0. "Rus 19", "Rus 20" and "Rus 21" change the mode using a combination (*) + (*) + (3) + (0).
Step 5
There are telephones that have a special button for changing the mode. It is usually called TONE or "TONE".
Step 6
Some phones have other buttons for switching to tone mode, as a rule, they are signed. If none of the above methods is suitable for your phone, you will have to look for instructions, which necessarily describe the way to change the dialing mode, if this option is provided at all by the manufacturer.
