Formatting allows you to completely erase the data stored on your phone and restore the factory settings. Nokia 5230, like all Symbian smartphones, can be formatted by typing a certain number combination, holding certain keys or using some applications.
Instructions
Step 1
There are two types of formatting - Soft Reset and Hard Reset. The first one clears the phone memory from contacts, SMS, calendar entries, access points, etc. It is used in case of incorrect operation of applications whose settings have been edited by the user. Soft Reset can be done during pre-sale preparation of the smartphone.
Step 2
For a normal reset, it is enough to enter a number combination. Go to the menu for entering phone numbers and press "* # 7780". A similar operation can be performed by going to "Menu" - "Options" - "Phone management" - "Initial settings". The smartphone will ask for a lock code, which is “12345” by the standard.
Step 3
The Nokia 5230 phone also supports Hard Reset, which is analogous to OS reinstallation. Not only settings are deleted, but applications. It is necessary if there are serious software malfunctions. If this type of formatting did not help to cope with the malfunction of the phone, then you can safely carry it for repair, because the problem is already of a hardware nature.
Step 4
For Hard Reset, dial the combination "* # 7370 #" in the field for dialing the phone number. Enter the lock code ("12345"), and then wait until the end of the operation. Before formatting, it is recommended to remove all applications from the phone in order to avoid subsequent problems when installing them after the operation.
Step 5
There is also a Hard Reset with memory formatting, which can be applied if the phone does not start at all and there is no way to dial a number combination. Hold down the green call key, the reset key, the camera and power button at the switched off phone. Hold them for 2-3 seconds and wait for the process to finish.
