The transforming tablet is a very interesting gadget. It's a cross between a good tablet computer and a netbook, and this device allows you to switch roles. But is such a device really necessary?

The greatest advantage of the tablet computer is its unmatched portability. Providing the user with almost the same powerful functionality as a laptop, the tablet has a much lighter weight, it is extremely compact and, accordingly, you can take it with you on the road without there, just putting it in a handbag or even in a fairly spacious jacket pocket.

However, the tablet is definitely not suitable for typing large amounts of text, simply because not everyone can adapt to the on-screen keyboard and the lack of a familiar mouse. But manufacturers took these features into account and developed new gadgets called transformers.

Convertible tablet: first acquaintance

The gadget, which is a kind of hybrid of a tablet and a laptop, is usually called a transformer. Like the well-known children's toy, it can be turned into a netbook with a flick of the hand and made back into a comfortable lightweight tablet. It's all about the presence of a docking station with a physical keyboard, to which the tablet attaches very easily and quickly. Having connected the tablet to the keyboard, we get a netbook familiar from the old days, which has recently become difficult to buy - it seems that their production has been discontinued, although this is not a fact.

A tablet computer connected to a traditional keyboard, to which, by the way, a mouse also connects - what could be better and more interesting for fans of a mobile lifestyle? At any time, the keyboard can be detached and a regular tablet remains in the hands, so no one will guess that it was just a netbook.

Why do you need a transformer

The transformer is not only a child's toy or a versatile laptop with a detachable keyboard. The same is the name for pieces of furniture that can turn into other objects. If necessary, you can turn, for example, a sofa into a billiard table, which is very convenient if there is not enough space in the apartment. Likewise, a transforming tablet - if you need to type a lot of text while in a hotel, you can attach a keyboard and work in your place. When you're done, simply detach the dock and take full advantage of your tablet.

In this case, the mobility inherent in tablets remains. But to this advantage is added the functionality of the netbook, which is especially important for those who do not want to take both devices on the road or on a business trip, and do not want to leave either of them at home.

Transformer tablets are produced by many manufacturers. As a rule, such devices have a screen with a diagonal of at least 10 inches and are built on the Windows 8 or Android platform. The most famous and attractive of all hybrids are the new Acer Aspire Switch 10, built on the Windows 8 platform, and the 11.6-inch LG TabBook, which has an Android platform. However, there are other models, no less functional.

The disadvantage of these gadgets compared to traditional laptops and netbooks is that they don't have a hard drive. But it seems that such transformers will very soon appear on the wide sale.
