Alcatel idol5 and 5c were announced on September 1, 2017. The start date for the devices is November 25, 2017.
Appearance
The appearance of both devices is identical to each other, including in size. The alcatel idol 5 version is 1mm wider than the idol 5s. The widths of the idol5 and 5s versions are 72 and 72 mm, respectively, the height of both devices is 148 mm, and the thickness is 7.5 mm.

The budget idol5 has a graphics accelerator Mali-T720MP3 with a frequency of 450 MHz, while the older version has a more productive Mali-T880MP2 with a frequency of 900 MHz. In idol versions 4 and 4s, weaker graphics accelerators were installed.
The amount of RAM for both smartphones is the same - 3 GB. The constant memory of the idol5 model is half that of the idol5 s - 16 GB. You can expand the memory with microSD memory cards up to 256 GB. This part of the characteristics has not been changed, the same parameters have 6058d and 6077x.

Comparison with idol 4 and 4s
In the new versions of the idol series, the processor was updated, which made the device more productive (in versions 4 and 4s, the outdated, albeit not weak, Snapdragon 617 MSM8952 was installed).

The new devices also distinguished themselves by the quality of shooting, by improving the quality of the camera matrix. The idol 5 and 5s produce more detailed and crisp photos than the 4 and 4s.
In general, the alcatel idol 5 and its improved version 5s are slightly superior in all characteristics to the idol 4 and 4s, but if you already have a model of the 4th series, it makes little sense to upgrade to the 5th. But if you choose what to buy from these four devices, the choice should be made on the 5 and 5s models, since their price does not differ much from the previous generation.
