DVD discs are the most common digital storage media today. They are read by computers and music players, DVD players. They are used to record videos, music and large amounts of information. Sometimes it becomes necessary to burn a DVD disc on your own in order to free up space on the hard drive or transfer information to someone.
Necessary
- A computer or laptop with a recorder,
- program for creating discs, DVD disc.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure that the device where you will insert the disc (stereo or DVD player) supports reading DVD + RW / DVD-RW discs.
Step 2
Make sure that the drive installed in your computer or laptop supports DVD burning. In this case, the documentation or sticker on the laptop case will say “DVD-RW”. If your drive does not write DVD discs, install one that supports this function, or purchase an external drive, for example, connected via a USB port.
Step 3
Prepare a DVD disc ("blank"). Purchase a disc with the required capacity, depending on the amount of information you want to record. The standard capacity of a single layer DVD is 4.7 GB. Keep in mind that in fact a 4.7 GB disc after recording has a capacity of 4.3 GB, since part of the space is spent on recording service information. A single-layer one-sided disc has one layer of information, a two-layer disc has two. The capacity of a double-layer single-sided disc is 8.5 GB, double-sided can hold up to 17 GB of data. If you are going to rewrite a disc more than once, buy a DVD + RW blank, if you do not plan to rewrite, then DVD-RW will do.
Step 4
To burn DVD discs, you need a special program on your computer. For the recorder to support it, the program must be released later than your drive model. The most popular programs are Nero Burning ROM; free ones - Burn4Free, FinalBurner and others. If there is no such utility on your computer, install it.
Step 5
Usually, the process of burning a disc in programs is as follows. Insert a blank disc into the drive, start the burning program. Select the type of data to be recorded (video, music, pictures, data, image). If you want to make a universal disk with different information, select the "data" item, such a disk can be read on any computer. A window will appear where you need to drag the data for recording - find it on the hard drive and add it. Make sure the disk's capacity can hold all of this information. Adjust the write speed and other settings if desired. Click on the "Burn" or "Burn" button. Wait for the recording to finish. Check that the recording went through without errors.
Step 6
Simple recording of DVD discs is also possible by means of the operating system. For example, in Windows, to do this, you need to insert a blank disc into the drive, select the disc burning item in the menu that opens, add the necessary files and start burning. But it is best to use special software, since in this case there is less chance of errors and damage to the disk.
