Step 1
Study the instruction manual of the purchased walkie-talkie. It must be configured to work with Russian networks. Otherwise, it will be necessary to reconfigure the device according to Russian standards so that the signals of the corresponding radio frequencies can be received.
Step 2
Choose a callsign that will become your personal identification signal. If your radio is officially registered, then it must be identical to the number of your permission to use the device. If the radio did not require official registration, then the call sign can be chosen by anyone. It can be a 6-digit set of letters and / or numbers. Be sure to keep in mind that your callsign must be clear and understandable so that in case of an uncertain signal, the interlocutor can clearly understand it. It is also necessary that none of the acquaintances have such an identifying name.
Step 3
Start tuning the antenna of the walkie-talkie. To do this, you need to use a special device called the SWR meter. Without it, it will be quite difficult for you, and in some cases it is unrealistic to get a high-quality signal. Tune the antenna at the first approximation to the minimum standing wave ratio.
Step 4
It is necessary to ensure that the device shows this value up to 1, 5. If the radio is tuned to VSWR> 3, then the transmitter cascade will be damaged during prolonged operation. Turn on the microphone of the walkie-talkie and adjust its antenna to the maximum glow of the LED indicators.
Step 5
Set the range of the walkie-talkie to 160 meters and check the quality of communication with the owner of such a device. If the conversation is clear, then tuning the antenna is no longer needed. If in the future you will communicate with the owners of a different type of radios, then you will need to find out their band bands, and then re-tune the antenna.
