After the antenna is installed, it remains to direct it in the right direction so that it clearly picks up the signal from the satellite. If you've positioned the antenna correctly, turning it in the desired direction will be relatively easy and quick.
Instructions
Step 1
Download the Satellite Antenna Alignmen program from the Internet. Install it on your personal computer to direct the antenna. Run the program. To work with it, you need to know the longitude of the satellite to which you want to orient your antenna and the coordinates of your settlement (it is better to use the coordinates of the house directly). After you enter this data, the program will give you the antenna tilt angle with respect to the horizontal plane, the satellite azimuth, as well as the solar azimuth time, i.e. that time of day when the azimuths of the satellite and the sun coincide.
Step 2
Choose a reference point that will serve as a reference point on the terrain in order to properly tune the antenna. The coordinates of this point must coincide with the azimuth of the satellite. To determine this reference point, measure the angle of the angle from the staff, which is oriented north-south. Unscrew the fixing nuts on the antenna movable mechanism. Aim it at the test current and fix the nuts.
Step 3
Take the rail. Attach it to the antenna along the vertical axis. Take a pointer goniometer, protractor or plumb line. Use it to set the angle between the staff and the horizontal plane, which will be equal to the angle of inclination of the antenna. Connect the antenna to the tuner, and the tuner, respectively, to your personal computer.
Step 4
Remember to turn on your speakers and set the volume to a sufficient level to hear the beep. Then slowly and smoothly begin to move the antenna in one direction or the other. When you hear the sound of the program, it means that you have managed to point the antenna towards the satellite.
Step 5
Fix the antenna in such a position that the quality of the incoming signal will be maximized. Tighten all fastening connections of the antenna firmly so that it cannot change its position during use.
