Cleaning the tape recorder may not be necessary in some cases, but if certain playback problems arise, it is best to use one of the simple methods for cleaning the tape head.
Necessary
cleaning video cassette
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase a cleaning videotape from stores in your city. Now they are difficult to find on sale due to the fact that such players are outdated for a long time. Try contacting CD-ROM stores and electronics retailers.
Step 2
In case you need to perform a one-time cleaning of the VCR, purchase only one cassette. Please note that in no case should it be reused, so if cleaning is needed more than once, buy several pieces at once.
Step 3
Insert a cleaning cassette into your VCR and press to play it. Wait until it ends, then remove it and discard it. Never rewind it or leave it in the player after use.
Step 4
Use an alternative method for cleaning your VCR. To do this, you need a lint-free cloth and regular rubbing alcohol, which you can buy at your local drugstore. Open the cover of your VCR, clean the heads with alcohol, then wipe them with a dry cloth. Be extremely careful when performing this operation so as not to damage the playback device.
Step 5
Contact the service centers in your city and give your VCR for cleaning. This is not a very convenient way, since now it is quite difficult to find service centers that provide such services.
Step 6
Do not ask vendors in markets or other questionable outlets to purchase cleaning cassettes, as you may damage the device. Also browse the video rental locations in your city. It is possible that they still sell VCR cleaning cassettes. Also check out points of sale for home appliances.
