The Device Firmware Update (DFU) mode is used to flash the iPhone modem, regardless of the version installed. In DFU mode, there are no images on the screen of the device at all, and it remains black, in contrast to Recovery mode, in which the USB cable and the iTunes icon are displayed on the screen of the device.

Step 1
Connect your device to your computer with a connecting cord.

Turn off the iPhone by holding the Power button located on the right side of the device until a bar with an arrow appears on the screen.
