Step 1
For a laptop to work as a navigator, you need not only the presence of all the elements, but also the appropriate software. Before connecting a GPS module (or a mobile phone), be sure to make sure that the laptop has all the necessary software, which is adapted for the existing operating system and for connecting with the necessary equipment. If there is no such software on your laptop, find it on the Internet, download and install it on your PC.
Step 2
Find and install a navigation software. Decide which version of the navigator is best for you. Some are more suitable for long distance travel, while others are better used for city trips.
Step 3
Connect the GPS receiver or a phone that acts as a receiver via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB. Give preference to the more convenient option. Almost all portable personal computers are equipped with a USB output today; to install the navigation program, an ordinary, simplest laptop, tablet or netbook will be enough.
Step 4
Synchronize the GPS receiver with the laptop, wait for confirmation that the system has detected the hardware. If the system does not detect the innovation, then this may mean that there are not enough additional drivers and you need to install them yourself. This can be done by setting an automatic network search.
Step 5
If you didn't need to install additional drivers, and the device was initially detected, launch and configure the navigation program. Make sure the program is functioning correctly and in the way.
