Step 1
Visit the official website of your Wi-Fi router manufacturer. Find the "Drivers" or "Software" section on it. Select the model you need and download the latest, but not test, firmware version. Be extremely careful because some models may have an A, B or C at the end of the name. By installing the firmware from another router model, you can completely ruin the device.
Step 2
Now connect the computer or laptop on which the firmware file is located to the LAN port of the Wi-Fi router. A network cable must be used to make this connection. Never connect to the router via a Wi-Fi channel, even if such a possibility exists before the initial setup of the network equipment.

Now open the menu containing information about the installed software version. It is usually called Framework Version or Firmware Version. Click the Browse button and point to the recently downloaded firmware file. Please wait while the software update for this Wi-Fi router is completed.

If the system generates an error when trying to update the software, it is better to use a different (previous) firmware version. If you are using a D-Link router, then carefully study the contents of the text file located in the folder with the firmware file on the ftp server.
