When dialing a number in a long-distance format, after the country code (for Russia, +7 or 8), a city code containing at least three digits is dialed, and then the phone number itself. All codes, like the number, are also displayed when an incoming call is made to a landline phone with an ANI system or a mobile phone. Special catalogs, paper and virtual, help to determine the city by code.

For an incoming call, separate the country code - it is one or two digits at the beginning of the number.

The next code from three to six digits is the area code. Write it down or memorize it.

To determine the city by the code in the mobile phone number, you can go to the J-S-M-inform website and enter the entire number in the international format in the search field (with the country code). After pressing the "Enter" key, you will be provided with information about the place of registration of the number (country and region) and about the operator.
