A universal remote control allows you to replace several conventional ones if there is a large amount of equipment in one room. But for this it must be pre-programmed.
Instructions
Step 1
When purchasing a universal remote, do not throw away the existing ones. They may be needed at any time, for example, if the universal fails, and if it is memorizing, then to re-learn it after changing the batteries. In addition, the universal remote control may not have some buttons that are not on the standard one and which may be needed to change the equipment settings.
Step 2
If the remote control is not memorized, but programmable by codes, find in its instructions a list of these codes. Press the programming key and the selection key of the device you need at the same time. The LED will light up. Enter the digits of the code by selecting it in the list by manufacturer and type of device. The LED will turn off. If one code did not fit, but the instructions for the same combination of the manufacturer and the type of device indicate several of them, try another one.
Step 3
If the manufacturer of the device is not listed in the instructions, first turn on the device from the front panel or with the standard remote control. Press the programming key and the selection key of the desired device on the universal remote control at the same time. Start pressing the power button on the universal remote control until the device turns off. Then press the programming button again.
Step 4
Most memory remotes, unlike most code-programmable remotes, do not have a standardized user interface. Before starting to teach the remote control, first check if there is a ready-made code for the device you want to control. Find out how to enter it in the instructions. If there is no ready-made code or it did not fit, carry out the training. Having entered the remote control into the appropriate mode, press each of the keys either first on the standard one, then on the learning one, or vice versa, depending on the model of the latter. If there are fewer keys on the memory panel than on the standard one, program only the ones you need. If there are no keys with certain names, program the neighboring unused ones, having previously written down the correspondence of their names on the standard and storage consoles.
