Especially successful landscape shots are obtained during sunrises and sunsets, when the refractive effect is not yet observed, and the silhouettes are sufficiently contrasting and clear. Photographing sunrise will be easy for you, especially if you prepare to shoot in advance.

It is necessary

  • - camera;
  • - tripod;
  • - lenses with different focal lengths;
  • - spare batteries.

Instructions

Step 1

Walk around the neighborhood, pick up a few places and points where the views will be most picturesque. In dawn photographs, the dark silhouettes in the foreground of the image look good, the background for which is the surface already illuminated by the rays of the sun.

Step 2

Check the weather forecast to be sure you will see the sun in the morning. Cloudy weather is not terrible - the sun's rays in the clouds are also very beautiful. Remember that the sunset does not last long, so you will have a limited time, show up at the shooting point in advance, at least half an hour in advance.

Step 3

Use a tripod and lenses with different focal lengths to shoot. Depending on whether you want to shoot a landscape or a sunrise, use a wide-angle lens or a Zoom lens with a focal length of about 200 mm. This will make the sun disk the main element of the image, optically increasing its size.

Step 4

Dark silhouettes fit perfectly into the composition of dawn shots, which will immediately focus the attention of the beholder. Graphics of dark, elongated silhouettes of trees or a horizontally extended mountain range will give the picture more expressiveness. Silhouettes of small objects in the foreground look good. But do not forget that it is better not to place both the sun and the silhouettes in the center of the picture.

Step 5

Do not use automatic camera settings and white balance. To capture all the beauty and play of light, switch the camera to aperture priority or shutter speed, experiment with exposure, shutter speed and aperture. Nobody will give you specific installation parameters - the shooting conditions depend on various factors that are difficult to take into account and foresee.

Step 6

If you are a beginner photographer, you can use the recommendations that the automatic settings offer, but work with the exposure setting. Take pictures by slightly lowering or increasing the exposure value, and then choose the best from them. Use the AE lock function to better expose pictures. Aim the lens at a dark surface of the earth, lock this exposure value and shoot the sunset with it.
