Installing and updating the digital camera driver depends on how ready the operating system is on the computer to recognize the new device.
Instructions
Step 1
Before installing the camera drivers, temporarily disable anti-virus software and other USB devices (printer, scanner, etc.). Check the general condition of the system.
Step 2
Connect the camera to your computer and turn it on. If your camera comes with a software CD, insert it into the drive.
Step 3
Right-click on the My Computer shortcut on the desktop (for older operating systems), or click on Start first and select Computer from the right column of the menu (for Windows Vista and Windows 7). Select "Properties", and then go to the "Hardware" tab (for older operating systems - "Device Manager").
Step 4
Find the following items: "Unknown device", "Other devices", "USB device", "Digital camera" or refer to the name of your camera if the computer freely recognized it. Check the properties of each device and look for a camera driver that was not recognized or that needs to be installed. If there is a problem with its installation, then a yellow question mark will appear in the section where it is located.
Step 5
Left-click on the device twice and select the "Driver" tab. After - click on the "Install", "Update" or "Reinstall" button. In the Update Driver Wizard, select the Install from a list or specific location (or similar) option. Check the box next to the line “Don't search. I will choose the right driver myself."
Step 6
Install the driver you need from the disk or select it from the list of devices by clicking the “Browse” button and finding the CD with the camera software (or a folder on your hard disk with the unpacked archive of drivers downloaded from the Internet). Click OK or Install.
Step 7
When the driver installation or update process is complete, click Finish.
