Xperia smartphones were previously branded Sony Ericsson and now under the Sony brand. The first two models in this series run Windows Mobile, while all the subsequent ones run the Android operating system. New to the line is the Xperia Solo. It was already introduced in March 2012 but has not yet been released to the market.
Information about the work on the new Xperia line phone appeared on the Internet back in mid-2011. Then he bore the codename Pepper. He knew that he, like all previous devices in the series (except for X1 and X2), will run Android OS version 2.3 or higher.
On March 13, 2012, Sony officially presented the smartphone. It was reported that it was renamed from Pepper to Solo, and the Android 2.3 operating system, which was used to debug the prototype of the device, was replaced by the modern version 4.0.
If you compare the Xperia Solo with other Android smartphones of the same class, it turns out that some of them are inferior in performance. So, it uses an LCD display with a resolution of 854x480 (for comparison, in the Samsung Galaxy SIII already released on May 29, 2012, the screen is made using AMOLED technology and has a resolution of 1280 × 720). The device plays both in terms of the processor frequency - 1 GHz and the amount of RAM - 512 MB, and in the camera resolution - 5 MP (in Samsung Galaxy SIII - respectively, 1, 4 GHz, 1 GB and 8 MP). It, like most other devices on the Android platform, has a slot for a Micro SD memory card up to 32 GB (in the Galaxy SIII - up to 64 GB). But all these shortcomings do not affect performance much, and the phone's weight turned out to be very small - only 107 grams. He is able to work in standby mode up to 470 hours.
But the main feature that sets the Solo apart from the competition is the increased sensitivity of the capacitive sensor. It reacts not only to touching the screen, but also to moving your fingers at a short distance from it. At the same time, the user sees in advance which of the links will open if he clicks on it, as if he were working with a mouse.
The exact release date for the smartphone has yet to be announced. It is only said that it will be released during the summer of 2012. The buyer will be able to choose the version of the device, which has a white, red or black color.
