A router is a means of bringing an internal local network to the Internet through a special device - a router. Simply put, thanks to it, several computers can access the Internet at the same time using one channel.

Step 1
Make sure that the computer you want to put into router mode has two network cards installed. Connect the wire from the provider to one network card. There should be two interfaces in the "Network Neighborhood" window: one is responsible for the operation of the local network, the second is for Internet access. Set up Internet access: for this you need the data provided by your ISP.
Step 2
Set up a local area network between computers. To do this, connect the computers to the switch with a network cable, and from it, plug the cable into the main PC, which acts as a router / router. The operating system assigns the necessary LAN settings by default. Check if the addressing is configured correctly.
Step 3
To do this, select the "Network Connections" shortcut and right-click on the local network connection. Select the "Properties" option. The number of packets sent and received must be greater than zero. Click on the Support tab. The subnet mask for all computers must be the same, but the addresses must be different.
Step 4
Set the same workgroup name for all computers. To do this, right-click on "My Computer", select "Properties", then "Name". Enter a name for your PC and workgroup, click Apply.
Step 5
Right-click on the external interface to activate Internet access for LAN users and make a router out of the computer. Select the "Properties" option. Go to the Advanced tab, check the box next to "Allow other users to connect".
Step 6
If your computer is not using a firewall, enable it. Click the "OK" button, the computer will be activated in router mode. A palm symbol appears above the network interface. Thus, you have completed the configuration of the computer in the router mode.
