A set of equipment for receiving satellite television consists of a receiving antenna, a converter, a cable and the most important and expensive part - a receiver. The choice of the receiver ultimately determines which channels you can watch.
At the moment, there are several large satellite television operators on the Russian market - NTV +, Tricolor TV, Raduga TV, Orion Express, Platform HD. When choosing a receiver, you should consider the services of which operator you want to use.

"NTV +". To view the channels of this operator, a receiver capable of working with Viaccess coding is suitable. Note that the more different encodings the receiver supports, the more satellites it can work with and the more expensive it costs. Most receivers have a special slot that allows you to connect additional modules to work with different encodings.

Tricolor TV. Specialized receivers capable of working with DRE encoding are used. Alternatively, it is possible to purchase a DRE module that can be inserted into any receiver equipped with a CI slot. Such a slot is also available on DRE receivers, which allows, in addition to the Tricrolor TV channels, to view the channels of other operators, if there is an appropriate module.

"Rainbow TV". To receive channels, you need a receiver with a built-in Irdeto-2 module or a receiver with a CI-slot for Irdeto-2 cards. Equipment suppliers recommend purchasing receivers with a built-in access module.
Step 5
Orion Express. You will need an Irdeto access module for a CI slot or a receiver with a built-in module. It is better to choose a receiver that supports Irdeto and Irdeto-2 encodings, which will allow you to receive Orion Express and Rainbow TV channels.
Step 6
"HD Platform". High definition television. You need a receiver capable of working with such a signal, and a DRE Crypt access module for a CI slot. Note that in order to watch high definition television, the TV must have the appropriate capabilities.
Step 7
The simplest receivers only give the opportunity to view the channels of the selected operator. More sophisticated models have built-in hard drives and are capable of recording TV programs. For reliable operation, it is recommended to select the receiver models recommended by a specific operator.
