Cassettes are a thing of the past and they are no longer used as information carriers. They were replaced by CDs and flash memory, capable of storing more information in better quality. However, many have important recordings on cassettes that they want to keep. Fortunately, you can transfer them to CD or DVD.
Necessary
- - TV tuner or video capture card;
- - video recorder;
- - WinDVD Creator or any other video capture software.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase a card for video capture or a TV tuner that has inputs for receiving a signal from a video. As a rule, such devices are bundled with software that will allow you to capture and process the video received from the cassette.
Step 2
Install the purchased card into your computer according to the instructions that came with the device. Typically, these cards are installed in a PCI slot.
Step 3
Connect the VCR to the installed board using the appropriate tulip cables. Connect the audio output to the input on the sound card of your computer. Connect the video output to a tuner or video capture card.
Step 4
Install the program that was included on the disc that came with the tuner, or use a third-party capture program (for example, WinDVD Creator).
Step 5
Insert a cassette into the tape deck and press PLAY. In the program window, press the VHS key, after which the video material that is stored on the cassette will appear on the screen.
Step 6
In the program settings, select the necessary decoding and recording parameters ("Settings" - "Video / audio recording settings"). Adjust the format you want when digitizing. Go to the "Burn File" item and specify the directory on your computer, or the disk where you want to burn the file.
Step 7
Click "Burn" and wait for the process to finish. Sometimes the procedure can take several hours, it all depends on the power of the computer and the equipment used. The video file will be saved to the directory you specified.
Step 8
When finished, run the file and check if everything was written normally. Video can be trimmed using the VirtualDUB program or edited using the Sony Vegas utility.
Step 9
After finishing all editing operations, insert the CD or DVD disc into the drive of your computer and copy the file to the disc (you can simply transfer the video to the window that shows the contents of the disc, and click "Burn files" on the left side of the window).
