We all strive to heat our home as efficiently as possible. But lately, there has been a tendency towards the desire to get environmentally friendly heat, which will not only make the house comfortable, but also will not harm us and our loved ones. An infrared heater would be an ideal option.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, you need to decide which principle of operation of the heater you prefer. There are so many different offers on the market today that an inexperienced consumer can easily get confused and buy something completely inappropriate. First of all, it should be mentioned that there are several types of infrared heaters. They differ in the principle of the design of the heat-emitting element. It can be an open coil, a quartz tube, or a heat-emitting plate. Many of us remember the open spiral from the old Soviet heaters - reflectors, the radiating element of which was heated red-hot. In fact, they are hardly used today. It is fire hazardous. In addition, they strongly dry the air by burning oxygen in it.
Step 2
Heaters, which are based on a quartz tube, represent the same spiral, closed with a sealed metal. Air is pumped out of the tube, so the problem of burning air oxygen disappears. This type of infrared heater has the highest efficiency, but it has some disadvantages. They are associated with the fact that the tube heats up about 700 ° C during operation, as a result, the dust that has settled on it begins to burn. This can cause an allergic reaction, and not a very pleasant smell.
Step 3
Well, the last type - a heat-emitting plate - is an anodized aluminum profile, inside which there is a so-called heating element (tubular electric heater). Of all types of infrared heaters, this one is the most environmentally friendly and safe, does not burn oxygen and dust, as it heats up only to 100 ° C. Its only modest drawback is a slight crackle caused by the different physical properties of aluminum and stainless steel, from which the heating element is made.
Step 4
So, after you've decided on the type of IR heater, it's time to consider the range. It is advisable to do this twice: on the Internet, you can choose a few of the best models, and then watch them "live".
Step 5
Pay attention to the heater plate (it should have an even color and texture). If you have chosen a heater based on a heat-emitting plate (and this is most likely the most acceptable type), ask the seller for information about the thickness of the anodizing layer - it should be at least 25 microns. Such a heater can go with small cracks (cobweb) when first turned on, but do not be alarmed - this is quite normal. Find out what the heating element is made of - it is necessary that it be made of stainless steel, otherwise it will quickly rust and deteriorate. Pay attention to the case, especially the back, which is usually not painted. If there are traces of rust on it, it means that on the other side the paint was applied to rusty metal. This will not only shorten the life of the heater, but it will also make it unattractive when rust shows through the paint.
