Formatting your phone returns all settings to the factory defaults and deletes the data stored on your phone. There are two types of formatting: soft reset and hard reset. In the first case, data and applications will not be affected, in the other, all settings will be deleted completely, including the phone book data. The settings are reset by entering a certain combination in the device dialing mode.
Instructions
Step 1
Before formatting your phone, try using other methods to solve any operating problems. Turn the phone off and on (it is advisable to remove and insert the battery back). Turn off your smartphone, remove the battery and let it sit for a while. Try to turn on the phone without a SIM card and memory card. If none of the above methods worked, remember that formatting is the very last method that you can apply when trying to restore your smartphone on your own.
Step 2
Save all data from your phone. Be sure to copy all phonebook numbers as all numbers will be deleted. Remove the memory card to avoid possible damage or loss of data. Back up your data using the Ovi Suite PC utility by selecting the backup section.
Step 3
In the number input mode, enter a combination of numbers * # 7780. This is a soft reset option, in which the screen, backlight, theme settings will be reset, but all your personal data and files will remain intact.
Step 4
If the soft reset did not help, then you can try using the combination * # 7370 #, but after using it, all data will be completely deleted and the phone will be reset to factory settings. If the smartphone does not turn on or both formatting methods did not help, then in the off state, you can hold down the call key combination, "3" and "*", and then press the power button and wait for the formatting message to appear. After completing the process, all data will also be deleted.
