Often the reason for the stop of a mechanical wristwatch is the contamination of the mechanism, the penetration of moisture into the case. It is enough to disassemble the watch, clean and lubricate it. But you just need to know exactly how this is done in practice.
Necessary
Tweezers, small screwdriver, sharpened stick
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the rear housing cover. To do this, pick it up with a sharp knife. Some covers can be twisted off. To unscrew the cover, insert the feet of a small pair of tweezers into the slots on the turntable and turn the ring counterclockwise. When the cover is open, as a rule, faults such as a broken spring and loose screws are immediately visible.
Step 2
Release the mainspring before removing the movement from the case. To do this, pull the pawl back to the extreme position with the crown and hold it with tweezers while turning the crown with your fingers.
Step 3
Disconnect the winding shaft, for which set it in the position of the transfer of the hands. Loosen the screw of the shifting lever. Remove the mechanism from the case and insert the winding shaft into it.
Step 4
Check if the center wheel rotates freely and does not come into contact with surrounding parts. Check that the coil, balance and drum are securely attached.
Step 5
Now you have to remove the hands and the dial. First, disconnect the second hand, then the minute (you need to do this with tweezers). Remove the hour-hand dial. Inspect the switch mechanism, check the grip of its wheels by turning them in the forward and reverse directions. Check that the shifting and winding levers are correctly locked.
Step 6
Disconnect the balance bridge with balance assembly. To do this, unscrew the spiral column screw by two turns and separate the balance assembly from the bridge. Remove the balance from the mechanism, it should not hang at the end of the spiral.
Step 7
With the mainspring fully deflated, remove the anchor bridge and the truss rod itself.
Step 8
Disconnect the central, intermediate, second and escapement wheels from the mechanism. Inspect the teeth, check the position of the wheels and the adhesion between the wheels and their corresponding gears. Disconnect the barrel, open it and check the condition of the mainspring.
Step 9
Rinse the parts of the watch mechanism in gasoline, pouring it into a small transparent container so that the level of gasoline does not exceed 2 cm. First rinse the large parts and then the smaller ones. Clean heavily soiled grooves with a sharpened stick. After flushing the parts, blow out a blower from a rubber bulb with a jet of air. After cleaning, parts can only be removed with tweezers. After cleaning, reassemble the watch in reverse order.
