In a digital camera, a lens is a complex optical-mechanical system that combines elements of mechanics and optics. Unfortunately, however, it is the lens that is most often subject to a greater risk of failure. Because of this, the owner of a Nikon camera needs to be able to disassemble it in order to correct the malfunction and return the camera to operability.

Instructions
Step 1
Before you start repairing your lens, get yourself a good tool. A quality tool is a guarantee of successful work. There is no need to take risks using a poor-quality tool, since the screws in the lens have small slots, therefore, using a non-professional tool, the threads can be ripped off.
Step 2
When repairing a lens, use the service manuals. Perform all manipulations on a flat surface: for this, spread a sheet of paper on the table (this will reduce the risk of losing some part).
Step 3
Disassemble the front of the lens: gently pry the self-adhesive decorative sticker (on the front lens) with a screwdriver and remove it. There are three screws located under this sticker. Mark the position of the lens (this is required to reinstall this element) and remove the screws, then remove the lens.
Step 4
Then unscrew three more cylinder screws and remove them. Next, remove the rubber ring from the zoom cylinders, remove the three bearing screws and remove the zoom rings. Then turn the lens over and start disassembling the back.
Step 5
Remove the protective plastic ring first. There are latches inside this ring, which can be pulled back by simply sticking your finger into the hole at the maximum focal length position.
Step 6
If the zoom is jammed, then the operation can be done after removing the mount. To do this, unscrew the two screws on the bayonet that secure the contact plate and remove it. Then unscrew the bayonet screws and remove them.
Step 7
Pull out all the cables from the connectors, then remove the protective cylinder and the aiming ring. Next, unscrew the six screws on the plastic retaining ring, remove it and pull out the zoom unit.
Step 8
Assemble in reverse order.
