Step 1

Open the video in VirtualDub. Use the "Open video file …" command of the "File" menu, or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O. In the dialog that appears, select the file from which you want to cut music. Click the "Open" button.

Step 2

Mark the beginning of the section of the video from which you want to extract audio. Move the slider located at the bottom of the program window to the desired frame. Select "Edit" and "Set selection start" from the menu, or press the Home key.

Step 3

Mark the end of the fragment selected for audio extraction. Move the slider at the bottom of the application window to the desired frame. Click on the "Set selection end" menu item of the "Edit" menu, or press the End key. The selected block will be visually displayed on the bottom panel.

Step 4

Adjust the audio processing mode. Select "Direct stream copy" from the "Audio" menu. This will avoid audio transformations when saving. The audio stream will be saved as it appears in the movie.

Step 5

Save the music from your movie to disk. Activate the "Save WAV …" item of the "File" menu. Specify the directory and name of the sound file in the save file dialog. Click the "Save" button. The process of saving the file to disk begins.
