Sometimes a motorist needs to disassemble a torpedo, but there is no time or money to contact a specialist. In this case, you need to do all the work yourself. In doing so, you must be extremely careful not to damage the various components.
Necessary
set of screwdrivers
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect all battery wires that lead to the torpedo. After that, remove the ashtray, if there is one in the structure of the center console.
Step 2
Use a thin, long screwdriver to remove the emergency gang switch and power windows. If you have a camera, record the location of the connectors. Otherwise, mark them with a pencil or sketch in a pre-prepared notebook. This is necessary in order not to confuse the connections in the future, which can lead to breakdown of a number of devices.
Step 3
Detach the shift lever mounting frame, then you will see the internal screws, which can be unscrewed with a suitable tool. Take out the front of the console. Get out the drawer that is used for storing small items.
Step 4
Take the radio tape recorder by the edges and stir it a little, then pull it towards you to remove it from the dashboard. The ventilation nozzle grill is removed in a similar way. Open the glove compartment, find the clips inside and unscrew. Take out the glove compartment and disconnect the light bulb wires. If your car model is equipped with an on-board computer, then carefully disconnect it and remove it from the console.
Step 5
Remove the screws securing the heater panel trim. Remove the switches. Remove the dashboard lower trims. Locate the screws underneath that secure the side panel trim, which will also need to be removed.
Step 6
Remove the ignition switch. The steering wheel and steering column trim shrouds can then be removed. Unscrew the fixing screws of the instrument assembly and disconnect their combination.
Step 7
Pry up the windshield nozzles with a flat screwdriver and gently remove. Unscrew the screw fasteners located on both sides of the torpedo and in the nozzle sockets. This must be done very carefully so as not to damage the windshield.
Step 8
Disconnect the dimmer connectors, after which you can begin to dismantle the panel. Pull the torpedo out carefully to avoid damaging the stops. Please note that it will be removed together with the air ducts.
