Connecting old models of power supplies to computers is similar to connecting new ones. In this case, it is necessary to approximately calculate the correspondence of the requirements of the devices and the power of the power supply unit.
Necessary
- - power supply unit;
- - screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the power supply from your computer. To do this, unplug it from the outlet after shutting down the operating system. Unscrew the side wall of the system unit, disconnect the power supply cables from your computer devices, gently holding them by the bases. If the power supply is relatively new, the plugs will be difficult to yield.
Step 2
After that, unscrew all the existing fasteners of the power supply, after removing the cover of the system unit from the other side. Remove it and set it aside. If you are changing the power supply for the first time, sketch the wiring diagram.
Step 3
Connect the other power supply to the devices on your computer in the same order in which you disconnected the previous device. If the power of the old power supply is not sufficient for the configuration of your computer, do not connect optical disc devices, and if possible, do not connect USB-rechargeable devices and additional hard drives in the future, as you may damage the devices.
Step 4
Secure the position of the power supply by positioning its wires so that they do not come into contact with the motherboard and do not interfere with the operation of other devices. Connect your computer to a power source and turn it on. If everything works, close the system unit covers by screwing them on.
Step 5
In the future, try to load the computer as little as possible by running games and applications that require a lot of system resources, especially video card resources, if your old power supply is designed for a different configuration. It is best not to use it as a permanent device, and if you are not using any devices, turn them off.
