A blower is a compressor that is used to increase the amount of air entering the engine's cylinders during suction. This leads to an increase in the amount of fuel burned, hence an increase in engine power. Also, blowers are used in a wide variety of areas - for inflating balloons and various structures (boats, trampolines). A hair dryer is the same blower! So can you make such a device yourself?
Instructions
Step 1
Find two motor-compressors (they can be found in old refrigerators). Using a 10 mm drill, drill out the rest of the discharge pipe and cut the shell casing with a hacksaw in a circle (do this carefully, without damaging the internal parts). Then remove the oil receiver and oil pump from the compressor housing and fill with grease. Weld the feet to the shell so that the grease is at the top.
Step 2
Mount both compressors on a common steel frame opposite each other with a 50 mm gap to ensure air intake. Close the gap with a fine grate. Weld the frame to the receiver body (this can be a bottle for liquefied gas). Also place a panel with a terminal block, relay and starter on it.
Step 3
Drill an 8 mm hole on the side of the receiver and weld the inlet fitting (10 mm pipe length). Connect one of the branches of the tee to it through a hose. Connect the other two with the same hoses to the branch pipes of a separate compressor. Tighten the connections with cable ties.
Step 4
Make the electrical part of the compressor. It can be made from a starter from a washing machine, a relay for cutting off the starting windings (also possible from a washing machine) and a terminal block for connecting wires (fluorescent fluorescent lamps). Mount everything on a single 5 mm PCB board and secure over the cylinder. One end of the board should rest on the shelf of the compressor frame, and the other on an additional stand that needs to be welded to the cylinder.
Step 5
Supply 220 VAC power. A wiring diagram and separate starters will allow the compressors to be turned on separately or both, depending on how you use air. Apparently, there is nothing difficult in making a homemade supercharger. You just need to show a little ingenuity and have basic welding skills.
