You often have to connect a subwoofer in a car yourself, since only a stereo system is installed on most cars from the factory. Installing a subwoofer is quite easy if you have some knowledge and follow simple guidelines.
Instructions
Step 1
Reconfigure the speaker connections to the 4-channel amplifier. It is essential that all available speakers are connected to the front two channels of the amplifier, which must have a high pass filter crossover. The rear channels of the amplifier should be set to mono in order for the power to at least double.
Step 2
Take the speaker wire and connect the subwoofer to the amplifier. Find out the crossover value that will be suitable for the subwoofer by testing.
Step 3
To do this, set the amplifier's low pass filter to 100 Hz and turn on any music. See if the subwoofer is resonating too much. Decrease the frequency until the device stops moving. The usual optimum for a system is 80 to 85 Hz.
Step 4
Try turning on the car radio to check the sound. You can change the location of the subwoofer in the trunk until you hear the sound of a suitable power. Often the subwoofer is positioned in the opposite direction to the direction of travel of the vehicle. In this case, the sound waves travel a much longer distance, so the bass is deeper. In other cases, the subwoofer can be positioned towards the seats. As a result, you will hear stronger bass, however, there is an increased risk of deformation of the cabinet if the speakers are too close to the seats.
Step 5
Secure the subwoofer with triangular metal brackets. Fasten the body so that it is connected to all body planes: the floor, at least one wall and the rear.
Step 6
If you don't have a spare wheel in your trunk, use silicone to seal the air spaces between the subwoofer and the corners.
