The AV receiver combines a tuner for receiving radio broadcasts, a stereo amplifier, and an input switcher for connecting various audio sources to the amplifier and video sources to a TV. A DVD player can be one of the sources of both types of signals.
Instructions
Step 1
The receiver, since it is a stereo device, has three RCA input jacks for connecting each of the video devices. One of them is marked in yellow - it is intended for supplying a video signal. The second is white - feed the left channel audio signal to it. The third is colored red - connect it to the output of the player, from which the audio signal of the left channel is taken. If the signal source is monaural (DVD players are very rare), do not connect the red jack.
Step 2
To avoid confusion, use a cable that has three plugs on each side: yellow, white, and red. With such a cable, it is enough to connect the outputs of the player to the inputs of the AV receiver, which have the same colors. If you are using a recorder instead of a player, do not confuse inputs with outputs: on the recorder use the jacks labeled Out and on the receiver as In.
Step 3
Both the signal source and the AV receiver can be equipped with Western European SCART sockets instead of groups of RCA sockets. To connect to them, use ready-made cords or RCA-SCART adapters. Some of these adapters are intended only for removing the signal, others - only for its supply, and still others - for both. The latter have not three, but six sockets (or three sockets and a switch). Do not mix up the adapters, and if there is a switch, set it to the correct position (In or Out).
Step 4
If you do not have ready-made cords or adapters, make them yourself. Use shielded cables. The RCA plug has two contacts: a ring one for connecting to a common wire, and a pin one for removing or supplying a signal. The SCART plug has 21 pins. All of its pins are numbered. To remove the signal, use the following contacts: 3 - left channel sound output (or mono), 1 - right channel sound output, 4 - common audio wire, 6 - left channel sound input (or mono), 2 - right channel sound input, 19 - image signal output, 20 - image signal input, 17 - image signal common wire.
