To convert a digital television signal and transmit it to the screen of a television receiver, a special device is used - a receiver or decoder. Such systems can be connected directly to an antenna, to a cable TV network, and to computer networks. The quality of the picture and sound on the TV will depend on the correct connection of the receiver to the antenna.
Instructions
Step 1
Use a standard input (so-called F connector) to connect the antenna system to the receiver. Some models of digital receivers have a high-frequency output that allows you to connect an additional analog receiver to the same antenna.
Step 2
When using a receiver with two inputs, connect two different antenna systems to each receive path. This solution improves the overall system reliability and eliminates possible signal reception failures. The specified receiver usually provides the ability to record on a hard disk.
Step 3
If you are using a hybrid receiver model (cable / satellite or terrestrial / satellite), connect the antenna systems to separate receive paths that have their own inputs and outputs.
Step 4
After connecting the antenna to the receiver using one of the following methods, set the basic parameters using the software. First, select the desired LO frequency from the list, or enter the value manually.
Step 5
Make sure that the receiver has built-in channel parameters. In this case, additional efforts to search for channels will not be required. If the generated channel lists are not in the device's internal memory, perform manual tuning, referring to the technical documentation supplied with the device.
Step 6
Adjust the antenna connected to the receiver. The accuracy of the setting is evidenced by special indicators on the display, designed in the form of graphical objects. These can be bars of variable length or traditional digital indication. In some models, the Signal Quality and Signal Strength parameters are combined into one indicator.
Step 7
In case of violations and failures in signal reception, check again that the cables are correctly connected to the appropriate connectors and that the contact is secure at the connection points of the system elements. Correct the connection deficiencies if necessary. Do not use significant physical effort when installing the cable.
