This parameter characterizes how many points each frame of the captured video will consist of (the more points, the better the image will be), and this also depends on the TV model:
- SD cameras are suitable for viewing on CRT TVs (resolution 720 × 576)
- HD cameras are good for playback on HD Ready TVs (1280 × 720 resolution)
- AVCHD cameras are the highest quality, playback on TVs with Full HD (resolution 1920 × 1080)
What media will the video be recorded on?
Today, there are four options for the media on which video is recorded:
- MiniDV, camcorders with this kind of media save video to a small cassette with magnetic tape, the recording time is one hour.
- DVD, use of miniature 8 cm discs.
- HDD, camcorders with this type of media use small hard drives for video recording. The average video length is 25 hours.
- Flash, a memory card is used for recording, it is the easiest and most convenient, but the price is correspondingly higher.

Megapixels mean two functions - electronic image stabilization and image resolution when taking photos, but at the same time they have nothing to do with video quality, so you should not pay attention to this indicator when choosing a video camera.

- optical, variable focal length
- digital, the approximation is carried out by the software of the video camera
It is better to stop your choice at optical magnification.
Night shooting mode
For amateur camcorders, you shouldn't pay attention to this parameter. video captured at night will be dark, a good image will only come out if there is additional light, and this is not always possible.

Almost all cameras have this type of screen, but the larger the screen, the faster the camera's battery will drain.
Camera dimensions
