Among all possible types of lamps, experts identify LED as the most economical. But if you choose the wrong LED lamp, you will at least feel discomfort with artificial light.
What characteristics of an LED lamp should you pay attention to when buying it?
- Base type. This is a well-known criterion for a long time. Obviously, if the type of cap is chosen incorrectly, you simply cannot fix the lamp in the lighting fixture.
- Most chandeliers, sconces, table lamps, floor lamps use lamps with an E27 base. If you are not sure if you know this characteristic, just come to the store with an old light bulb and ask the seller to tell you what kind of base it has.
- Power. Yes, we all remember - the more the lamp power (for incandescent lamps, for example, 40, 60, 75, 100 W), the brighter it shines. LED lamps have a different principle of operation than incandescent lamps, therefore their power is different. Do not be intimidated by small numbers (eg 7, 10 W). Most manufacturers indicate which values for incandescent lamps their products correspond to. The equivalent power values may vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer.
- Colorful temperature. This is also an important characteristic. Lamps emitting light of cold shades are best used in offices or non-residential premises, since most consumers note that it is not very comfortable to stay in a room illuminated by such a lamp for a long time. It is better to choose a lamp whose packaging indicates that its light is warm. Focus on the following numbers: a lamp with a color temperature of about 2700 - 3000K will have warm (yellowish) light, 4000 K looks white for most, but lamps with a color temperature of 5000 K and above should definitely be used only for a pantry, etc.
- The direction of the light flux. Until now, you can find many models of lamps with a not very large illumination angle. The use of such a lamp may not be very comfortable if you screw it into a sconce, a chandelier, but in this matter it is enough to focus on the individual taste.
- Guarantee period. There can be only one advice in this case - the longer this period, the better.
Please note that many models of LED bulbs may not be compatible with dimmers plugged into your household power supply. There can also be problems if there is an indicator LED in the switch.
