The use of radio communications of the so-called "civil band" (CB) in most countries is practically not regulated and is available to ordinary citizens without obtaining a license. At its core, CBC communications are wearable or stationary radios that differ from professional devices in a smaller number of functions. Sometimes it becomes necessary to increase the power of the walkie-talkie. How to do it?
Necessary
RF amplifier
Instructions
Step 1
To increase the power of the radio station supplied to the external antenna, a radio signal amplifier is used. The amplifier allows you to improve the quality of the signal without introducing distortions into its structure.
Step 2
The RF amplifier only changes the characteristics of the hardware when the device is in transmit mode. The use of an amplifier will not affect the quality of signal reception from other respondents. Some manufacturers build in amplifiers circuits that amplify and receive the signal, but along with the amplification of the useful signal, in this case, interference is also amplified.
Step 3
When connecting the amplifier, insert it into the gap in the antenna cable, namely between the radio and the external antenna. Connect the amplifier with thick wires to the power source. If the amplifier is installed in a car station, connect the wire to the "positive" terminal of the battery, protecting it near the terminal with a fuse. Select the "negative" wire of the same cross-section and minimum length.
Step 4
A large cross-section of wires is required to ensure a possible voltage drop in the power wires, because the amplifier consumes a very large current during transmission. A short negative lead limits the resonance effect in the power supply circuits. This wire must be securely fastened, since a break in it can sometimes lead to equipment failure.
Step 5
Tune the antenna connected to the amplifier well and keep it in order. Pressing the switch button on the intercom while the antenna is disconnected or the cable is damaged may damage the amplifier.
