GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is one of the newest technologies that allows mobile phone users to exchange data with other subscribers in the GSM network. Mobile operators use this technology to provide users with Internet access.
Instructions
Step 1
GPRS setup starts with two services provided by cellular operators: GPRS-Wap and GPRS-Internet. Their main difference is that GPRS-Wap is required for Wap-sites and when you connect it, ordinary sites will not be available to you, and when you connect to the GPRS-Internet service, you will be able to fully use the Internet from your mobile phone.
Step 2
Before setting up GPRS, check if your mobile phone can work with GPRS or EDGE. If not, then there is no point in setting up GPRS, since you will not be able to use this service anyway. Although there are currently no phones that do not support this function, the only exceptions are older models of mobile devices.
Step 3
To set up GPRS for the MTS mobile operator, activate the service in the following way: - if you have a prepaid tariff plan, dial 0022 from your mobile phone and follow the instructions of the autoinformer; - if you have a contract tariff plan, dial 0880 from your mobile phone and follow the prompts of the autoinformer.
Step 4
After activating the service, start setting up GPRS on your mobile phone by entering the following data: - Connection name: MTS Internet; - Data channel: Packet data (GPRS); - Access point name: internet.mts.ru; - User name: mts; - Password request: no; - Password: mts; - It is better not to touch additional parameters and leave them as they are by default.
Step 5
If you come across a situation when, when you connect to the GPRS-Internet service and complete the configuration of your phone, the Internet will still not work, then contact the technical support of MTS by calling the free number 0880 from a mobile phone or from a city number (495) 766-0166.
